The scope of the CareConnect Program is an Enterprise-wide implementation of Epic. Given the diversity of clinic process and technology it is necessary to construct a clinic-by-clinic view of current state, as well as a recommendation for end-user device placement to facilitate effective workflows that leverage the efficiencies of the Epic suite of applications. This body of work will be accomplished through on-site visits coordinated with the CAO's and Clinic Directors, and will result in a floor plan with recommended end-user device placement that is mutually agreed upon by CareConnect and the CAO's and Clinic Directors.
This "CareConnect Technology Requirements" document details the requisite technology standards and policies to create a robust technology environment capable of supporting the implementation and adoption of the Epic suite of applications. A dedicated CareConnect Clinic Build-out project team is sanctioned to facilitate the achievement and adherence to the standards and policies included in this document, however said team is not responsible for performing the actual procurement, configuration, or deployment of devices required for adherence to the standards.
This document is intended for distribution to the IT departments responsible for support of end-user devices, LAN, IDF, and WAN in the ambulatory clinical and administrative sites impacted by the CareConnect implementation. The CareConnect Clinic Build-out project team will partner with the responsible IT departments to assist in planning, execution, and attestation of adherence to the stated standards and policies contained herein. Attestation of compliance with the standards and policies contained in this CareConnect Technical Requirements document is a condition of a site's CareConnect implementation, with failed adherence possibly resulting in the delay of scheduled implementations.
The question of funding for the requisite end-user devices is addressed below in the italicized paragraph taken from the CareConnect FAQ web site, which was approved by the CareConnect Executive Oversight Board.
